Description | Jbel Bouhachem lies in the Rif Mountains (north of Morocco) between the three provinces of Tétouan, Chefchaouen (Chaouen) and Larache. With an area of 8.000 ha, it was designated a Site of Biological and Ecological Interest, it is along with the nearby Talassemtane National Park one of the core areas of the Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean shared between Andalusia (southern Spain) and Morocco. The forest composed mainly of Portuguese Oak (Quercus faginea), Pyrenean Oak (Quercus pyrenaica), Cork Oak (Quercus suber), Maritime Pine (Pinus pinaster sbp maghrebiana) and Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica). The park is home to an important number of birds (99 species), mammals (32 species including the Barbary Macaque Macaca sylvanus) and reptiles (17 species). |

Description | The Jebel el Kest forms the northern bank of the Ameln Valley, and the backbone of the Anti-Atlas mountain range to the north of Tafraout. The highest point on the escarpment, Afa-n-Tmezgadiwine, sits at 2375m (7792ft) above sea level, and is generally referred to simply as 'Jebel el Kest'. The whole escarpment runs for some 22 miles (35km) from the pass of Tizim Waylim (1745m) above Tanalt in the west to the mighty Tarakatine Pass (1655m) in the east, over which the main Agadir to Tafraout road passes before descending into the Ameln Valley. The ridge gains and maintains in excess of 2000m above sea level for its entire length. |

A karstic limestone massif, rising steeply from sea-level to 841 m, the site covers some 4,000 ha and includes the small island of Leila, several rocky headlands and bays and the sandy beach of Ras Ciress. The terrestrial vegetation consists of Pinus and Quercus woodland. Annual rainfall averages 1,000 mm. Human activities include fishing, agriculture and tourism. |

Description | The Jebel Aulia Dam is a dam on the White Nile near the capital of Sudan, Khartoum.Following completion of his work on the Sennar Dam, civil engineer John Watson Gibson entered into partnership in 1933 with Pauling and Co.,[1] forming Gibson and Pauling (Foreign) Ltd. in 1933 to build the dam, the largest dam in the world at that time.[2] On the successful completion of the dam in 1937, Gibson became managing director of Pauling and Co., a position he held until his death in March 1947.In 2003, a hydro-electric project was completed on the dam, adding a 30-megawatt (40,000 hp) maximum capacity. As a result, the site became a site of significant national importance, and is now continually guarded by the Sudan People's Armed Forces. |
